🎺 The curator takes the stage. Craig Harris — Sun Ra alum, NAACP Image Award nominee, Harlem Nightsongs bandleader — performs at the Harlem Jazz Series 9/11, the day after his birthday. Do NOT miss this. 🔥 #HarlemJazz #CraigHarris #LiveJazz

Harlem — the curator is taking the stage. 🎺✨ The Harlem Jazz Series is thrilled to present Craig Harris on Friday, September 11, 2026.

Craig Harris built this stage. He has curated it all season, bringing the finest jazz artists in the world to Harlem week after week. And now, the day after his birthday, he steps onto it himself.

A trombonist, composer, and bandleader who toured with Sun Ra, performed with David Murray, Cecil Taylor, Lester Bowie, Abdullah Ibrahim, Muhal Richard Abrams, and Charlie Haden, and co-composed the score of the Oscar-winning film Judas and the Black Messiah — Craig Harris is one of the most important figures in jazz, period. His Harlem Nightsongs ensemble and his recording Managing the Mask have cemented his place as Harlem's sonic guardian. September 11th, he performs for us. Happy birthday, maestro. 🙌
