Re #Countryfile & the Supreme sheepdog-trials, sheep don't like having dogs by them so, whilst we may accept sheepdogs being used for the necessity of moving fields, we should NOT accept such cruel sport; my WalkaboutsVerse #poem, with pics, "A Good Life" walkaboutsverse.blogspot.com/2011/03/walk...

The Reform mob wont like this. A Swede representing Scotland. An Austrian in Ireland's tem. Sheepdog trial national eligibility controversial. #countryfile

Another dodgy statement from the UK Govt's response to the #Countryfile piece on data centres last night.

Have ministers made any assessment of the emissions new AI data centres will also enable? EG: www.nature.com/articles/s44...

I wonder if the makers of #Countryfile quite appreciate that it's probably the programme during which their target audience is most hammered each week.

#CountryFile 27/9/2027 showed a good #ChildrenInNeed Seashell Trust project but, instead of getting money of ordinary people, why not tax the rich & level our revolting inequality at the same time? My WalkaboutsVerse #poem on "Tax" walkaboutsverse.blogspot.com/2011/03/walk...

BBC #Countryfile has investigated the spread of data centres in rural areas and their demands for energy, water and land. 70GW of data centres in the planning pipeline. Industry says 8 to 15GW will actually be built. Hard to imagine what benefit could justify burning 250W for each UK adult or child.

@ianpadg.bsky.socialSep 27, 2026, 6:29 PM

If we must have data centres, they should be located at the coast or offshore, cooled with desalinated sea water and powered by offshore wind farms.

Happy #WorldRiversDay! 💧

Tune into BBC One tonight at 7pm to see us on #Countryfile!

Matt Baker and Margherita Taylor visit Willington Wetlands to see how we’re restoring rivers for species like beavers 🦫 and white storks 🪶

📺 Don't miss it!

Watch this space to find out about Rivers 2040!

A smiling man and woman stand in a grassy field holding stand-up paddleboards. The man on the right wears a cap and blue life jacket, holding a blue and black board labeled "SAILOR 10'6". The woman on the left wears glasses and an orange and black life jacket, holding a green board.

At the top, bold dark green text on a light blue background reads, "Catch us on BBC Countryfile tonight!". At the bottom, a dark green button with a white arrow reads, "Take a peak behind the scenes".An image with a dark green border featuring a photograph of two people launching stand-up paddleboards from a metal ramp into a calm waterway surrounded by tall green reeds and trees.

One person stands on the ramp holding a paddle, helping push off the other person, who sits on a green paddleboard wearing a black jacket and an orange life vest. A second white, blue, and black paddleboard rests on the ramp.

Below the photograph, white and light blue text reads: "Head out on the water with Matt Baker and Katie Last to talk wetland health and habitat recovery."An infographic with dark green and blue-green background panels features bold white text at the top: "Join Adam Berry to find out about how we’re encouraging white storks to nest in Derbyshire after 600 yrs."

Below the text, a photograph shows a filming crew outdoors in a grassy field. In the foreground, a cameraman with his back to the camera wears a heavy rig harness and holds a video camera, filming Adam Berry. Adam, wearing a black jacket and brown shorts, stands looking toward the camera. In the background, workers on scaffolding and a ladder assemble a tall wooden stork nesting platform. To the left is a chain-link enclosure. An image divided into three horizontal sections.

The top section shows a calm body of water reflecting a treeline and blue sky with light clouds, framed by tall marsh grasses and reeds.

The middle section has a dark green background with the light blue text: "Explore Willington Wetlands tonight" and "BBC1 at 7pm" below it.

The bottom section shows a videographer in a green t-shirt from behind, operating a professional video camera on a tripod. He is filming a lake with people on stand-up paddleboards and a small boat in the distance, partially obscured by green brambles in the foreground.

All these old dears lovingly creating a tapestry to donate to the French. Made with heritage wool treated with natural dyes.
