Yeah, I admit it was fun when I was younger. But I had a friend who drank it the way some people drink Starbucks.

I hate this stuff
this red, viscous liquid
it made me hate cherries
but it's the only way out
I'll chug eight ounces
trust me, it's not fun
especially waiting for the nausea
but if you vomit you don't get as high
all I want is to dissociate
to escape this world for a night
distanced and detached
somehow it makes things beautiful
and when I close my eyes
I see things I can't explain
but it makes walking difficult
and speaking too, apparently
slurring as if I were drunk
writing is tricky because my hand
won't listen and do what it's told
it's suddenly got a mind of its own
but only for writing, unfortunately
(that could have been fun)
but then the crash comes
a long, sweaty, fitful sleep
and I feel like shit because
I'm drinking fucking cough syrup
to cope with life
the are worse things I could be doing
but man, I wish I didn't hate cherries
