A small, weathered humanoid automaton sits on the dusty floor of a ruined stone structure, its thin mechanical body assembled from tarnished copper, dark metal rods, exposed joints, gears, springs, and wrapped wire. Its lower body is enclosed within a broad, battered shell of green-patinated metal plates fastened together with rows of copper rivets and decorated with subtle interwoven Celtic-style markings. One skeletal mechanical hand rests against the ground while the other arm reaches outward, palm open. The automaton tilts its pale, cracked metal face upward with an expression of quiet fascination. Directly above its head hovers a large butterfly with worn, translucent wings glowing softly in warm light. Fine antennae and delicate legs contrast sharply with the machine's heavy, corroded construction. Behind them, massive stone columns and broken masonry fade into shadow. Diffused light enters from above, casting the enlarged shadow of the butterfly across the distant wall and giving the intimate encounter a theatrical sense of scale.
