As simple as they seem, conifers turn into complex little beauties when you take a closer look. My mom's is also home to half the spiders in the garden.

In vitro propagation of woody semi-mangrove species is often constrained by explant contamination, browning and stage-specific morphogenic responses. The authors examined how explant developmental state, basal-medium strength and plant growth regulators affected in vitro establishment and regeneration responses in Heritiera littoralis.

Describing the cones & seeds of extinct #conifer species---using CT and 3D visualization---that co-existed with the dinosaurs 150 million years ago in what is today the state of Utah.

Using an industrial-strength CT scanner, the authors of this study were able to look inside a new species of a 151-million-year-old conifer cone from Utah to see the three spirals of seeds preserved inside, without having to cut open the precious fossil.
