"I know you're not doing the whole big black wedding right away, but you can't tell me that you don't want one," she teased as she took my arm. I shrugged and squeezed her arm against my side.

"I do, but right now isn't the time to add a little one to the mix," I slid back, not shooting the idea down entirely. Kids could wait until after I was a Marshal, maybe even Director, and incapacitated the mentakinetic asshat prowling around my metaphysical shields.

"Kids are portable," she argued, gesturing to the car seat.

"Kids are easy targets, and I have too many enemies," I grumbled under my breath as Forseti pulled the door open. We walked inside, and Zeldya let go of my arm.

"Oh well, it was worth a shot," she said, and I grabbed her hand before she could run away. "Yes?"
