Against a still blue water sits a dark gray, black and white grebe. The bird is in profile with a white lower face, neck and chest. The wings are a dark gray and shrugged up around the bird's shoulders. The back is more black with some white highlighting. The face has a lower half which is white and a black cap. A small red eye is seen peeking out of the lower edge of the black. The beak is long and pointed. It is a dirty yellow color with some dark gray upper and lower edges.
A mallard with the iridescent green head and yellow bill swims by from right to left. He has a rich chestnut colored body and pink feet paddling just beneath the water's surface.
