🦻 Surgical insertion of a #cochlear implant into the delicate inner ear often triggers acute inflammation, tissue scarring, and other damage. Researchers from 🇹🇼 @ntu-taiwan.bsky.social and National Taiwan University Hospital have developed a new kind of electrode to protect residual #hearing.

The world’s first fully invisible #cochlear #implant is now being used outside a clinical trial. 👂

After five implants were successfully fitted in a clinical study, two patients in #Vienna and St. Pölten have now received the innovative implant in routine clinical care.
