9. As Night Is Falling.
An atmospheric languid, hymn-like drone. You want it to go on forever, and it kind of does. Bliss.

10. (I Can’t Seem To) Make You Mine
Its inclusion on the soundtrack to The Lake House introduced a whole new audience to the band’s music. A beautiful aching ballad with an exquisite arrangement by @philippeauclair.bsky.social

11. The Neighbour.
How do you separate these songs from one another? Impossible. They’re all magnificent. This lavishly arranged gem sounds like the greatest Sixties band you’ve never heard.

12. Everyone You Meet
Loved the video for this. Very Clientele. This is simply a beautiful pop song, a slice of chamber pop with Byrdsian harmonies and surprising melodic shifts à la Forever Changes.

13. Fables of the Silverlink.
An epic multipart rumination on the nature of grief, initially envisaged as the first single from I Am Not There Anymore. Complex, experimental, it weaves and dips and soars. More ideas here than others can manage on a whole LP.

14. We Could Walk Together
The first Clientele song committed to vinyl (Cry Me A Liver compilation EP on Fierce Panda, 1997) .
Haunted by the ghosts of Felt and the Chills, it serves as a gorgeous calling card to their inner sound world.

15. Since K Got Over Me
A statement of intent - the opening track on 2005’s Strange Geometry, purred with confidence. Chiming guitars, a sneaky Beach Boys lift, and Alasdair’s vocal range (from melancholic lament to snotty garage sneer). A stunner.
