Good Kotlin developers do not just write shorter code. They create code that communicates intent clearly to the next person maintaining it. #Kotlin #CleanCode #SoftwareEngineering
Myth: magic methods make code easier to maintain because there's less of it.
It's shorter code, but your IDE, PHPStan, and the next developer can't see what exists. Make sure you declare the properties.

I've written SO many string transformations full of temp variables and fn() wrappers. PHP 8.6's partial function application plus the pipe operator gets rid of both.

#PHPC tip: PHP 8.6 lets you put `#[\Override]` on class constants.
Rename the parent constant, and the child fails at compile time instead of drifting into a separate, unused constant.

🧹 Is your PHP code really clean?
Mike Lehan explores Clean Code on @entwicklerde.bsky.social:
🔍 clear intent
🧩 less complexity
🛠 easier maintenance
In this video, Sarah Dutkiewicz shows you how to keep your repo clean by taking advantage of Git Hooks with formatting and testing in .NET:
#PHPC tip: PHP 8.6 adds `clamp()`, so the two-`if` range check goes away.
Swap min and max, and PHP throws a `ValueError`.

Kotlin's strength is not only concise syntax. It is the ability to make invalid states harder to represent. Good types reduce bugs before tests even run. #Kotlin #SoftwareEngineering #CleanCode
Pair the PHP 8.5 pipe operator with PHP 8.6 partial function application and you get some VERY concise code (and I expect Rector to help convert the old stuff).

And then they ask why the legacy spaghetti script from 2014 is still running production.

Need to switch off a big block of code? Wrap it in #If False instead of prefixing every line with a comment mark...

I've handwritten min/max range checks for the current page number more times than I can count. PHP 8.6 adds clamp(), and I might polyfill it in older projects.

Em 2024, vi devs sanitizarem 190 como se fosse +190. Sincronizar contatos exige preservar emergências locais, não aplicar DDI universal em tudo. O Country Code Fix ignora esses numerais. Como seu app lida com números de emergência na agenda? #DevLife #CleanCode https://smartlinks.live/l/UCrSM0
⚠️ Hidden cost of AI comments: slower debugging (more to read), expensive tokens (more to process), heavier maintenance (more to update). If the code is clear, the comment is noise. Keep intent only. #AI #CleanCode #DevTips
#PHPC tip: PHP 8.3 added `json_validate()`, so you can stop decoding a payload just to find out whether it parses.
It skips building the object graph, so a large webhook body costs you a parse instead of a parse plus the memory.
Most codebases rot from the inside out because we settle for soft types and sloppy habits. Lock down your architectures with TypeScript's mapped and conditional types. Build systems that don't break under pressure. 💻🔥 #TypeScript #SoftwareEngineering #CleanCode
Good Kotlin code is rarely the cleverest code in the file. Optimize for the developer reading it six months later, not for the developer writing it today. #Kotlin #SoftwareDevelopment #CleanCode
