Call for papers for Mosaic of Hesperia: The History and Culture of Italy Before Empire, a CUNY Graduate Center Classics Department conference on April 9, 2027. The call invites papers exploring Italy’s cultural landscape from the Archaic Period through the Age of Augustus, including material culture, religion and mystery cults, political relations, languages and dialects, cultural connectivity, trade, migration and warfare, and Classical Reception. Graduate students and advanced undergraduates are invited to submit. Presentations are 15 minutes followed by 5 minutes of questions. Abstracts of no more than 300 words, plus a select bibliography, are due December 8 and should be submitted as a PDF to cunyclassicsconference@gmail.com. The keynote speaker is TBD. Questions may be directed to Rebecca Tauscher or Jason Palladino.
