Today temps were average with highs in the upper 70s. a.m. showers gave away to a nice pm with a few passing clouds. We picked up a little under 1" at the CHA Airport. Mod drought conditions are beginning to expand across the TN Valley. We now sit at -9.32" in deficit for 2026.
Rain still continues across the TN Valley and NW GA with moderate to heavy rain more concentrated over NE AL and NW GA. If you are going downtown to the Walnut Street Bridge grand re-opening or tailgating later this afternoon rain should taper off some becoming light.

Today we saw a high a 92° which will be the last day for a while where we see 90°+ days.
A cooling trend in underway starting tomorrow & lasting over the next week or two.
Highs will be in the lower to mid 80s and lows in the mid 50s to lower 70s.
Most of the rain has diminished across the Tennessee Valley and North GA. The only storm left out there is a cell over Pikeville extending southward towards Flat Top Mountain. Moderate to heavy rain, occasional lightning, and winds around 10 to 25 mph will be possible.
Showers and storms have been developing throughout the pm, especially west of CHA. Rain chances will continue through the evening. Flooding is possible, especially in flood-prone areas. A few storms may be strong at times with strong wind gusts.
Most of the showers and storms have diminished. For the rest of tonight we'll see a few passing clouds. Temps will cool into the lower 80s this evening and cool down into the lower 70s overnight. We'll see more scattered showers & storms tomorrow pm.

Storms in the metro area have weaken to just some light rain. More intense weather is occurring east of Chattanooga from Athens, to Benton, to Dalton, extending down into Calhoun. The worst weather is over North GA producing some pretty strong wind gust and hail.

If you’re from East Ridge to Fort Oglethorpe find some indoor shelter for a little while. There is a pretty strong core over CHA slowly moving towards the S at 10 mph. Wind gust around 30 to 60 mph will be possible along with heavy downpours and cloud to ground lightning.
Scattered storms are developing across the TN Valley. Storms may be strong at times with gust around 40 to 60 mph and heavy downpours. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in place for southern Hamilton County until 2:45 pm. Storms will continue for the next several hours.
