1. Long ago, in a kingdom hidden beneath an endless night, the Witch of Night descended from her castle in the darkness. She had created the kingdom herself. Its people were her children, its forests her dreams, and its moonlit rivers flowed according to her will. That night, she wandered among them, giving strange gifts to those who pleased her. Some received enchanted mirrors. Some received keys that could open doors to places that did not exist. And some received a doll. The doll was beautiful. She had long silver-white hair that fell like moonlight, pale skin, and a dark mask shaped like twisted thorns covering one side of her face. Black ornaments and delicate chains wound around her like living vines, while her long black dress seemed to absorb the candlelight around her. She looked less like a toy and more like a woman who had been imprisoned inside one. The Witch of Night placed such a doll into the hands of her chosen children. Then she whispered: “Tell her your wish.” There was only one rule. Every wish had a price. ...2. In one of the kingdoms beneath the Witch's of Night, two princesses lived inside a magnificent palace. They were sisters. The elder princess was proud and beautiful, admired by nobles throughout the kingdom. The younger princess was gentle and kind, loved by servants and commoners alike. For many years, they had been inseparable. Until they both fell in love with the same man. A neighboring king. At first, their rivalry was nothing more than childish arguments. They fought over who would sit beside him at dinner. Who would receive his first greeting. Who he smiled at more often. But as time passed, affection became jealousy. And jealousy became hatred. Then, one day, the elder princess discovered the truth. The king did not love her. He loved her younger sister. Not because she was more beautiful. Not because she was a princess. He simply loved her. That realization shattered something inside the elder princess. That night, she locked herself inside her room. In front of her was the doll given to her by the Witch of Night. The creature inside it stared silently at her. The princess held it tightly. “I wish my sister to become ugly.” The doll remained motionless. “I want the king to hate her.” The candles around the room flickered. Then the doll slowly lifted its head. Its pale lips curved into the faintest smile. “Your wish has been heard.” ...3. The next morning, screams echoed through the palace. The younger princess had awakened to find her reflection completely changed. The beauty she had once possessed was gone. Her face had become twisted and frightening. She covered herself with her hands and wept. Servants fled from the room. Nobles whispered behind closed doors. And the elder princess watched from the corridor. She waited. She waited for the king to arrive. Surely, she thought, he would finally abandon her sister. And eventually, he did come. The king entered the room alone. The younger princess refused to look at him. “Please,” she whispered. “Do not look at me.” The king stood silently before her. She lowered her head. “I am no longer the woman you loved.” He stepped closer. “You are.” She looked up. “But... look at me.” “I am looking at you.” “Then why aren't you afraid?” The king gently took her hand. “Because your face was never the reason I loved you.” The princess began to cry. And the king remained beside her. He still loved her. He still chose her. And despite everything that had happened, he still intended to marry her. ...4. From the palace balcony, the elder princess watched the wedding preparations begin. Her wish had succeeded. Her sister had become exactly what she had wanted. Yet nothing had changed. The king still loved her. The elder princess slowly looked down at the doll in her hands. For the first time, she understood. The price had not yet been paid. The doll's thorn-covered mask seemed to move beneath the candlelight. Its smile grew wider. The princess stepped backward. “No...” Something cold crawled beneath her skin. Pain seized her body. She collapsed onto the marble floor. Her scream echoed through the empty corridor. The doll slipped from her hands. Her fingers twisted. Her body began to change. The beautiful princess she had once been disappeared beneath something monstrous. When the transformation was finally over, something else stood where she had fallen. Something that no longer belonged among humans. The creature slowly raised its head. Its eyes met the doll's. The doll sat quietly on the floor. Still beautiful. Still smiling. The princess had received exactly what she wished for. Her sister had become ugly. The king had seen it. And yet he had loved her anyway. The wish had never failed. The princess simply had not understood its price. End Part 1.
