Nice to see the lovely subspecies mariscolore of the #CommonBlue in this female resting on vegetation. However, though the #chalkgrassland was dotted in blue even on a grey mid-morning, the stars that stole the show were the many #Smallcopper marvels

Insects observed feeding on #RoughHawkbit (Leontodon hispidus) were many & varied in the chalk grassland along the #dykeapproach path.

Really worth growing this much overlooked drought-hardy stalwart & cheery nectar source, especially in late summer/early autumn

The #chalkgrassland is slowly greening 💧🌱💧🌱 & many Adonis Blue females on the wing & feeding with no signs of harassment from males so probably already mated. No sign yet either of any resurgent growth of her sole larval food plant Horseshoe Vetch but I'll keep searching. 🔎 🌱 🙏
