Chief #Kintpuash (aka #CaptainJack) and three #Modoc warriors were hanged on #ThisDayInHistory in 1873 for their part in the well-fought #ModocWar – a response to the #CaliforniaGenocide. The remaining 153 members of his band were held as prisoners of war in Oklahoma until 1909.
