OC-tober Day 9: Themes/Symbolism

I hit a minor block while drawing this one, while also being out most of the day. So I just strong-armed myself through it before the day could end.

#Art #Doodle #DnD #OC #bweirdOCtober #bweirdOCtober2026 #Wolfthekid

A colored digital doodle of my character Asuna, with a few floating heads — including her with flaming hair and her friends Chesten and Reamp — surrounding a title that says "Asuna Sato" with the subtitles "Oni" and "Barbarian"

Below it is a text box that is titled "Legacy, Worthiness, & Opening Up," which includes the following paragraph:

The years following her mothers turned Asuna into a recluse, stuck in a vicious depressive cycle of wanting to do right by her family but feeling too unworthy to adequately do so. To give her a small push, one of her few close companions — the lord of the town she resides in, Ronvol — asks her to journey to Daggerford to set up relations to help in the ongoing orc war. She ends up trapped in the mists of Barovia when trying to fulfill this goal.

Throughout her time navigating this domain of dread, Asuna slowly grows closer to the people she surrounds herself – namely Chesten (the son of the lady of Daggerford) and Reamp (A Dhampir who asked her to act as his bodyguard). A reoccurring theme has Asuna open up, discovering who she is and forming close bonds to people she’ll grow to cherish.

During this period, Asuna discovers that the ring she inherited from her mother was actually a powerful Oni artifact from the goddess Izumi. It was entrusted to her family, and when they passed, she inadvertently became its new guardian. She is continually tested by Izumi and others who doubt her, grappling with feelings of unworthiness and legacy. With time, however, she gains Izumi’s blessing to be its guardian proper while coming to terms with her self doubts.

Mary (JC/SH/Others): Hrm this is a thoughy. But probably resilience given how much trauma she had endured including several complete mind breaks. Passion/Impulse since she follows her intuition and often acts on impulse...

Day 9 of #OC-Tober and today's prompt is themes + symbolism!
Today I'm showing off my villain OC Dread. Some symbolism I associate with him is chains, but the symbolism I associate with him the most is butterflies and metamorphosis.
#bweirdOCtober #bweirdOCtober2026 #oc #ocsky #artsky #villainoc

Dread with a sunset colored color palette in a butterfly chrysalis surrounded by a swarm of butterflies with sunlight peaking through the leaves. He is staring directly at the camera with his eye glowing a little and the butterflies covering the other half of his face.

Album cover I made for Dread. He is surrounded by water and partially submerged in it with butterfly wings coming from his back in a resting position. There are chains surrounding him with the text: "Metamorphosis" at the top

Day 9: Symbolism + Themes 🌄🦾

You weren't born. You were made. Constructed to carry out a task.
Does taking this form aid that task? Unclear.
Does what I am doing right now aid that task? Unclear.
It's all so unclear.

OCtober Day 9: Themes + Symbolism 🌌

Just realised that World Space Week goes in parallel with OCtober Development Week, which I dedicated to Vitian... Couldn't be a better coincidence!

A filled "My OC In Symbolism" template featuring Vitian, my Twilight Half-Elf Cleric.

Colour – Purple Blue

Purple Blue, also known as periwinkle, is a delicate and intriguing shade that combines the calmness of blue with the depth of purple. Positioned between these two primary colors on the color wheel, it encompasses the serenity of a clear sky and the mystery of deep twilight.

Flora – Aster

Asters are typically symbols of wisdom, faith during difficult times, and celestial bodies. All these fit Vitian and his story very well.

Fauna – Pangolin

Pangolins are nocturnal creatures and appear to be very solitary. They are also covered in scales, which matches Vitian wearing scale armour most of the time.

Object – Holy Symbol

There's no other object that could scream "Vitian" more than his Holy Symbol. It's the only possession he values greatly. He always wears it on himself, and when he doesn't, he never leaves it unobserved.

Song – It's Alright by Mother Mother

For me, this song heavily associates with Vitian, his story, and how he found peace with himself, his feelings, emotions, and thoughts.

Feeling – Serenity

Vitian is utterly serene in the face of almost everything, be it a celebration or a disaster. But his morning and evening prayers mark those times of day when he is most at peace.

🤍OC-Tober Day 9: Themes and Symbolism🖤

The Reapers are humanoid insects resembling skeletons. I chose for them to be insects because i feel that out of any creature on earth, they best represent the circle of life.

OC-tober Day 9: Themes + Symbolism
I really enjoyed these little flower portraits I did last year, so I'm doing them again! I have so many flower-connections for my OCs, I just love coming up with them 😅
Flower names etc. are in the alt text!
#bweirdOCtober #bweirdOCtober2026 #oc #art #ocsky

Karma - Hibiscus
Not only do I think the colour scheme and overall beachy/relaxed vibes of this flower suit Karma really well, but I also think he would see a sunset hibiscus and think it was literally the coolest and most beautiful flower he'd ever seen

Hestor - Lavender
I think he especially loves the smell of lavender. He loves taking long baths with scented oils etc, and so lavender is his favourite.

Constantine - Delphinium
Constantine actually collects pretty flowers and presses them into a book (it's an old paladin handbook he picked up years ago that he doesn't read anymore). Delphiniums have always been his favourite; they used to grow in his hometown, and blue is his favourite colour.

Bellamy - Bleeding Hearts
Despite Bellamy's namesake (their surname is Rozenkrantz and their family use rose motifs a lot), they've never particularly fit in with the rest of their family - hence why they ran away to join the circus without much of a second thought. Bleeding hearts feel like an appropriately whimsical flower for them; playful but also with a slightly macabre edge...and Bellamy quite likes pink!

Karen’s journey in Black Spirit is one of regression & finding the resolve to push past it. But as she is now, she’s finding it hard to. But she has to… not just for the others… but for herself most of all.

OC-Tober 2026 Day 9
Starring: Karen Thompson

Karen stares into her bedroom vanity mirror that she broke soon after joining Team Nocturne and has not bothered asking to replace it.

Karen, before joining Team Nocturne, was living a better life than most in Teron, albeit with some snags. Her entire life consisted of being the one in charge of taking care of her twin sister, Lucy while their mother was neglectful outside of being the general breadwinner of the house.

Eventually, Karen would find success as an author who sold novels based off of her and Lucy’s childhood adventures that they would imagine alongside Karen’s partner Pokémon, Garden (a Male Gardevoir that they found as an egg when children). It would allow Karen and Lucy to live on their own away from their mother who was very ignorant to Karen’s transition. Never calling her by her new name, and the frequent “Oh, I almost mistook you for your sister” comments before defaulting back to her birthname.

However, Lucy would get sick and Karen would be tricked into joining the Luminous to help pay for the rapidly increasing hospital bills. Some time later, an assassination attempt was placed on Karen and it resulted in Garden’s death, posing as Karen. She was dead in the eyes of the public, and most importantly, whoever was trying to get her.

She was brought into Team Nocturne shortly after but now she doesn’t even get to see her sister anymore and lost her best friend.

It gets harder and harder for her to try and stay in a good headspace. She views herself as regressing and gets incredible amounts of gender envy towards Jane who is infinitely more popular than she is on the team, and in general, lacks someone to confide in.

She has Simon now to do so, but despite that, she still has her moments of doubt… but she’ll enjoy the company and validation however she can. If Simon can do it, so can she… right?

A very big personality packed in such a tiny dragon. Roya is vain and petty and very much a menace >:3

A digital drawing of Roya (she/her), a purple dragon with a crown-like crest upon her brow, a spiked tail, and a paler underblly. She sits on her haunches, grinning smugly and pointing at herself. The background is a purple-pink, and there is a pale starburst behind her head.

A digital monochrome pink doodle page of Roya (she/her), a dragon with a prominent crown-like crest on her brow. On the left are two drawings of her from the neck up, the top drawing is her sticking her tongue out grumpily, while the bottom one has her opening her mouth in a smile. On the right is a drawing of her from the chest up, wings open and mouth agape in an angry yell.

My silly adventurer nerd <3 I don't draw Clove enough, they have a fun design to drawwwww

#bweirdoctober #bweirdoctober2026 #digitalart #art #originalcharacter #ocsky

A digital, monochrome teal drawing of Clove (they/them), a stocky human with curly, leaf-strewn hair, wearing a big cloak and leather armor over well-worn traveling clothes. They stand with their head turned to the left, their right hand raised to shade half their face while they catch a glimpse of something interesting out of frame. Leaves float through the air around them, and the background features an abstract forest.
