This Brown Creeper spent some time inspecting the Birch trees for insects...
I've been hearing them for days.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #ABCD, so let's go with my good friend the #BrownCreeper, which covers two of the letters and is not afraid to do it upside-down.

A Brown Creeper, a tiny bird with a pale breast, a curved black beak, and wing and back feathers that resemble tree bark, clings upside-down to a log.

Alan challenged us with #BirdOfTheDay: any bird name starting with #ABCD. I showed up with a Brown Creeper - Certhia americana, A, B, C… and maybe D for “do I get bonus points for 3 out of 4??” 😂🤣 #Birds #BrownCreeper #ECK

May your coffee be strong and your problems be minor this Wednesday. 😁

A small brown creeper bird clings vertically to the side of a rough tree trunk, its mottled brown and white feathers blending into the bark. The bird’s long, thin tail points downward, and its slender curved bill is angled toward the tree as if searching for insects in the crevices. The background is softly blurred with bright blue sky and a few out-of-focus branches, making the bird and tree trunk stand out clearly.

The naturalist W.M. Tyler, writing in 1948, captured this species’ energy and fragility in a memorable description, “The Brown Creeper, as he hitches along the bole of a tree, looks like a fragment of detached bark that is defying the law of gravitation by moving upward over the trunk, and as he flies off to another tree he resembles a little dry leaf blown about by the wind.”

4 Birds, 1 Tree, 3 Minutes.
I spotted a #DownyWoodpecker tossing moss out of a Birch tree, then a #BrownCreeper flew in and started climbing, then a #YellowWarbler made itself known, and lastly a #BlackCappedChickadee appeared.
