BROKEN SWORD: THE SHADOW OF THE TEMPLARS REFORGED is a 2024 remake of the 1996 original that maintains all the elements of that debut title with upgraded graphics and improvements to the interface mechanics.

The story is as engrossing as ever, with George Stobbart and Nicole Collard being engaging lead characters who find themselves embroiled in a global conspiracy between Assassins and Templars long before the Assassin's Creed games were but a twinkle in Ubisoft's eye.

Supporting them are an array of awesome side-characters with their own branch of stereotyping and humour, along with a stunning art style for the backdrops you find yourself exploring as George.

Some of the puzzles are ridiculously obtuse, but that was half the (frustrating) fun of point-and-click titles back in the day, while there are plenty of side-quests to consider if you wish to go for the Platinum trophy (tip - try to use the buzzer on everyone).

I had played and enjoyed all the previous BROKEN SWORD games (the fifth is my favourite), and I'm happy to say this one lives up to the nostalgic memories while providing something tangible for newcomers to get their teeth into.
