EW replay update:
Roscoe, overhearing Alisaie invite Yuyuka to the Last Stand for a coffee, decides that in order to ensure everything goes smoothly the most obvious solution is to run to the markets to buy a cap that will flawlessly hide his identity, and hide behind a flowerpot

#Brambleverse

Roscoe kneeling behind a large flowerpot, wearing a black cap but making no other effort to conceal his identity, complete with his greatsword on his back. Not far away, Yuyuka and Alisaie stand beside one another.A close-up of Roscoe looking quizzically towards the girls. Behind him, two Sharlayan residents chat, oblivious.

Fun fact: the first time Yuyuka met Thancred, she was working in Tailfeather on white mage duties, and he was running around naked in the chocobo forest having been deposited out of the Lifestream in his birthday suit. It was unfortunate

Another thing that accidentally ended up working well for the #Brambleverse: how the DRK and WHM quests bleed into each other, and how DRK tell the story of a man struggling to deal with his grief and anger, taking a young girl under his wing who was let down by the people who should've loved her

The Summit of Mt. Gulg
(CW suicide)

Been rotating this comic in my mind for years and my Patreon supporters voted to make it happen! Here's how Mt Gulg went in the #Brambleverse, and a love letter to one of my favourite scenes in the game

FFXIV comic showing my Warrior of Light, Roscoe, a lalafell with long dark hair and all-black armour, kneeling on the ground at the top of Mt Gulg. Emet-Selch says to him, "What a disappointment you turned out to be. I placed my faith in you. Let myself believe that you could contain the light. But look at you now... halfway to becoming a monster." He kneels down and uses a gun to lift Roscoe's chin, saying "You still retain your form and your senses... but you have all but become a sin eater." In the background, Yuyuka, a blonde lalafell with horns, looks on in horror.Page 2 of the comic. The panels pan across images of the structures of Mt Gulg, the Crystal Exarch unconscious on the ground, Alphinaud and Thancred gritting their teeth, Alisaie and Y'shtola looking tense and horrified, and Yuyuka on the verge of tears. Emet-Selch continues, "Whether you will it or no, your mere existence will serve to engulf the world in Light. Those few left with the will to fight may rise up against you. But before your absolute might, they will quickly know despair. "There is no hope." "We are finished." "Mankind is finished!"" Roscoe puts a dagger to his own throat, saying, "No. I won't let that happen."Page 3 of the comic. Roscoe slits his own throat, with red blood spraying across the panel. Yuyuka runs forward with a scream, tears pouring down her face. A close-up of Roscoe's eyes shows them slowly closing as Emet-Selch says "I shall look forward to seeing you bring the world to its knees... hero."

Working through 5.5 on the #Brambleverse replay and Yuyuka has met Estinien for the first time. While Alisaie has had enough of this man, Yuyuka found herself bonding with him over their shared hatred of Allagan tech - or any tech, for that matter

Normal post-ShB conversations for the #Brambleverse

Strixling: YEAHH.The concept of a Yulisaie returned confession scene occurring at the same time Thancred beats the shit out of G’raha Roscoe somewhere: sneezes Bex: Roscoe: man. Must have picked up something in the crystarium. Ah well. pulls out one remaining grilled cheese sandwich from his pack

Thinking about lalafell lore. Another thing that accidentally worked so well with the Bramblewoods is that Roscoe is descended from Mhach and Yuyuka from Nym. These were lore decisions we made separately, some from before we start co-writing. One brings shadow, one brings light!!
