So here I was today, newly separated, unsure of what my future holds, getting a respite from single parenting to enjoy the simple restorative pleasures of a haircut. And it’s pouring rain! I asked the woman at the front desk for a bag to put over my head. So off I went into the rain with my hair up in a hair tie and a plastic bag covering it, the bag handles tied under my chin! Ridiculous. I made it only one block before I ducked into a cute taqueria on Clark Street. I figured I might as well get a snack while waiting out the rain for a bit. There was a group of three sitting at a table by the door, and a lone gentleman sitting on a stool by the windows facing the street. There were plenty of open seats around, all by the windows as well. I ordered my food, and as I walked toward the windows with my tray, the guy at the windows looked back and waved me over. I couldn’t imagine why. People just don’t usually gesture for a stranger to come over. But he was handsome, with a kind smile. He couldn’t have been older than 35, if that, and in fantastic shape. So like a fish attracted to a shiny lure, I went over."I'm so curious," he said. "What are you for Halloween?"

I was taken aback, then I realized he was referring to the bag.

"The Light We Loved" tells the story of a woman and a man who fall in love with the same lighthouse... An unusual romance novella - read it on Kindle Unlimited! #Booksky #WritingCommunity #RomanceBookSky #BookSkyAuthors

October 7th: Kevin said I should start dating immediately. "you're insane," I exclaimed. "I'm nowhere near ready, nor am I interested. Who would want to date a 40-something with a kid?" Kyle and Kevin looked at each other, then looked at me incredulously as if I'd asked them if the sky was blue. "Ummmm, everyone!"
