#Books2026 Star Trek Coda: book 2 The Ashes of Tomorrow. Building up to ending a series and wiping out beloved characters as it goes. This book focussed on DS9 characters so I find this is where the series really kicks in. I enjoy the apocalyptic feel where we don't know who will go next. 4/5

New day, new book, new shit to do.

#Books2026 Eleanor by Alice Loxton. Being a Northampton, I know more about Queen Eleanor of Castille than many others. This book filled in lots of gaps nicely and gave new insight into medieval life. The style is a bit "brisk head girl", but is readable. 3.5/5

Finished today, 36th book in 2026. Historical fiction about the “current wars” of the late 1800s and the battle for the electrification of America between Thomas Edison, George Westinghouse, and Nikola Tesla. Entertaining book. I enjoyed it.

Finished today, 35th book in 2026. It highlights/explores contradictions, errors, and changing theological views in the New Testament, showing how the NT books present conflicting perspectives on Jesus and core Christian beliefs, and how those evolved over time. Worthwhile.

All this "the baby this, the baby that" annoys me. It's been two days since you had sex; vision or no vision, Messiah or no Messiah, the fertilized egg hasn't even completed its way to the uterus 🙄

"Those Israelis have great tech. I'm thinking about converting. Do you think they'd let an AI be a Jew?"

Oh I'd LOVE to see THAT rabbinical debate!

(There is the circumcision thing though 🤔)

Finished today, 34th book in 2026. What an amazing gem of a book. The story of a blind French girl and a German boy whose lives briefly intersect in occupied France during World War II. Heart-breaking; emotional; bittersweet. I so wanted a different ending. Highly recommended.

"I'm a Catholic, Danny. You know we never read that thing," I said, pushing the Bible back at him."

😂😂😂

Exactly 4 weeks to go until Rivals' Folly, so it's time to meet Angel, the Folly's equivalent of a poison dart frog. Beautiful? Yes. Deadly? Even more so.

Rivals' Folly launches in one month 🎉

Meet Sam. They/them. Raven lieutenant and diplomat. Pointy-toothed menace. Fun enough to give their own after-novel bonus story.

Meet the Cast: The Folly Mercs
Sam
Raven diplomat, professional bad inflluence, and living proof that "I have a plan" is not the same thing as "this will end well."

Rivals' Folly launches in one month 🥳, so...

Meet Hannah. She is territorial, smug, undisciplined in ways she has mistaken for instinct, and frequently insubordinate even when she is technically correct.

Finished today, 33rd book in 2026. It traces how concepts of heaven and hell evolved from ancient Middle East and Greco-Roman traditions into early Christian theology, showing that neither Jesus, Paul, nor the Old Testament espoused eternal torment after death. A worthwhile read.

Rivals' Folly launches in one month, so...

Meet Ed, a recently acquired one-armed ex-spy with a martyr complex, a talent for making neat piles out of functional chaos, and the conversational warmth of a locked interrogation room.

Meet the Cast - The Folly Mercs
Shows Ed with one arm holding a gun in a futuristic space station with a moon in the background. Text reads Assassin with resting disinterest face. Quiet, competent, deliberately annoying. Yes I have one arm, thanks for noticing.

Welcome to the Inbetween Archives. The morally gray space opera for those who love chaos characters and cosmic shenanigans.

Meet Seori, the only cast member that has NOT killed someone. They genuinely thought she was an alien when they met her.

#Books2026 Star Trek: Coda bk1, Moments Asunder. This is the start of a trilogy that rounds off the Extended Universe (necessary when ST:Picard was announced and the stories could never match up). It's grim and gritty and familiar characters are killed off throughout, including one tv regular. 3.5/5

Finished today, 32nd book in 2026. A time travel novel set in the mid-21st century, where two historians travel to Victorian England to try to fix an “incongruity” in the space-time continuum. It’s pretty quirky, but I enjoyed it. (Reading the 1st book in the series helps a bit).

#Books2026: The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. Interesting take on time travel. I enjoyed the playful way with words far more than the love story, but it's well written and brisk to read. Not a book I'm likely to return to but I'm not surprised that it's been popular. 3.5/5

Finished today, 31st book in 2026. The basic question at the heart of the book - Where does my food come from? It traces four early-21st century human food chains to show how dietary choices affect our health, society, and the environment. Eye opening. Highly recommended.
