@phalpern.bsky.socialLudwig Boltzmann, who argued passionately for the existence of atoms, only to be challenged by Mach, Ostwald and other leading thinkers of his time, tragically took his own life 120 years ago today.
Ironically, atoms would soon be experimentally confirmed.
