We often wonder where our autumn Stonechats come from
This bird, 3-OG, has been on site for the last 2 days.
It was ringed as a juvenile at Foveran Links, south of Newburgh, Aberdeenshire on 20/7/26.
It has travelled at least 717 Km to get to #Bockhill.
A single Lapwing in-off #Bockhill this morning is not the stuff of dreams, but shows autumn is rolling on....
These 7 Cattle Egrets had been in #Bockhill airspace prior to landing in a nearby field at St. Margaret's.
Best bird of the day #Bockhill had to wait until this evening, with Dartford Warbler on Kingsdown Rifle Butts, plus Shag.
Absolute highlight of the autumn #Bockhill this morning was this pod of 8 Bottle-nosed Dolphins moving down channel.
Whilst watching two Great White Egrets come in off sea, #NigelJarman got us onto this group of eight Bottle-nosed Dolphin swimming down Channel from #Bockhill.
Highlights for me #Bockhill today: Oct Hobby & 1st site record of Willow Emerald (3 in the Farm Wood).
The fabulous Crimson Speckled kicked up by @philbockhill.bsky.social during a very wet morning #Bockhill.
Bird highlights: Merlin and 19 Brambling.
Good day so far at #Bockhill. Juvenile Merlin, 19 Brambling, 1.5k Hirundines, Pintail, Brent, Wigeon on sea (low numbers) and Crimson Speckled in Phacelia field.
Typical end of September species #Bockhill today: 16 Stonechat, increase in Meadow Pipits, Reed Bunting & late(ish) Whitethroat.
In addition to Brendan Ryan’s earlier #Bockhill post: 376 Meadow Pipits, 14 Pied Wagtail, 3 Reed Bunting, 120 Skylark, 7 Firecrest, four Wheatear, 320 Linnet and a juvenile Grey Plover circled the fields before moving off west.

Cooler more overcast conditions today at #Bockhill. Very still all day with little viz mig. 21 Stonechat (including a group of eight) were the highlight and three Wheatear added to the 'chatty' feeling.
Good day at #Bockhill. Became increasingly warm but birds throughout. Highlights; 104 Chiffchaff, 31 Blackcap, 60+ Robin, six Firecrest, two Red-throated Diver downchannel, two Yellow-legged Gull and singles of Hobby, Tree Pipit and Redstart.
An obvious increase in Chiffchaff numbers today #Bockhill - over 100 between us, with fewer Blackcaps in the area, a single Wheatear, & numerous Ivy Bees.
Great morning at #Bockhill. Still many House Martins - at least 7k. Significant increase in Chiffchaff 136 with other highlights being 6 Firecrest, 4 Hobby and Redstart. At least 14 Clouded Yellow (including one helice) and one Hornet Robberfly.
