Happy Thanksgiving! In honour of it, here are a few Wild Turkey shots taken in our backyard. #birds #birding #Ancaster #HamOnt #Bobsbackyard #thanksgiving

A close up of a turkey's head, looking right at me with a concerned expression of "yikes"!This past winter, I looked out my office window, and there was a wild turkey standing on the top of our privacy fence! A large male "Tom" turkey, in profile view looking to the left, all puffed up with his tail fanned out, trying to impress the ladies.

I'm hoping that these guys find their way south to my feeders again this winter - Pine Siskins. #birds #birding #Bobsbackyard #Ancaster #HamOnt

A closeup shot of a Pine Siskin, in profile view looking to the left, perched on a rung of my feeding station. The background is blurred out green and white. It is brown and white except for yellow on the edges of its wings and tail.

I wonder where my gang of Baltimore Orioles are now. My backyard has sure been quiet since the last one left on September 5th. #birds #birding #Bobsbackyard #HamOnt #Ancaster

I took this photo of an adult female Baltimore Oriole in the spring. She's on a bare branch, looking over her shoulder to the left, with a green backdrop of a blurred out spruce tree behindA closeup shot of a juvenile Baltimore Oriole, perched on a hoop of my feeder system, in profile view looking to the right and downwards. The backdrop is blurred out green.A photo of my feeding system, with four juvenile Baltimore Orioles and two adult malesA closeup of my oriole feeder with three juveniles on it. They are all looking to the right, I wonder what caught their attention.

I was surprised to see this young Northern Cardinal land on my feeders. Must have been a 2nd clutch. It did the typical kid 'shaking all over" thing, begging, and dad came and obliged. By the time I got my camera, I'd missed the action and only managed this pic. #birds #birding #Bobsbackyard #HamOnt

On the left side of a rung of my feeders are an adult male Northern Cardinal and on the right an immature one in profile view. The youngster has similar plumage to its mom, but a dark beak rather than orange like adults.

Our dozen Baltimore Orioles have been slowly departing. Last evening at dusk this guy, the last man standing, came for one final refueling and to say goodbye. Always heartbreaking when they leave. Travel safe, and we'll be waiting for you in May! #birds #birding #Bobsbackyard #Ancaster #HamOnt
