One of the authors pointed me to some supplemental materials that helped me to grasp what is going on in this paper. I think I'm getting it now.

My photos are still processing, but here is a close up of a section of the lace and embroidery. It is so fabulous.

A section of the back of the Plimoth Jacket, Plimoth Patuxet Museums. It has gold and silver fine lace at the base of the back. The lace has small oval spangles on it that also shine.

Above that is the exquisite embroidery with gold braid surrounding all kinds of floral and insect motifs in bright colors. Between all the embroidery are round gold spangles all over the empty spaces. This thing just vibrates with gold.

You can see the jacket in the candle light on an actual human here, at the "reveal" of the jacket project.

Because it was going into competition, I couldn't show results of this until it became public. Yesterday I found out it won "Best use of color" at the Big E Agricultural fair in Massachusetts, Lace division.

Come by the exhibit hall to see our lace group's stuff.

A photo of the framed Medieval Peacock Milanese lace project on my work table. It is framed as a diamond shape, and it is a swirly and colorful abstract peacock drawn like one of those stoned monks did in illuminated manuscripts.

Mostly in blues, greens, yellows, golds. Silk threads.A close up of a section of the swirly lace area that includes a giant spider motif, and the outer blue tail of the peacock in other patterns.

A bit of the curly-cue antenna thing is also shown, in yellow and gold.An image focusing on the peacock head and body.

Gold curly head things, yellow beak, blue head and torso (but kind of abstract). And the little booties that absolutely cracked me up. Yellows and blues and outlined in the dark blue. The framed and hung version of the peacock on the wall. I always wanted a diamond shaped framed piece for my house.

OMG, we announced our new #BobbinLace workshop this week. And someone is so eager they are flying from CA to take it!

That's how rare beginner classes are.

Anyway: if interested--in #IpswichMA in November. I don't recommend flying, but I guess it's an option.

The local newspaper in #IpswichMA did a nice story about us teaching #BobbinLace in this historic lacemaking center.

Last weekend, #BobbinLace demo in #LexingtonMA, a mathematician came up to me + intensely watched weaving 4 strands of silk. It was funny, but I totally got his interest.

The diagrams in the article would take me 30 seconds to make in lace.
