I have written about the kinds of #MicrobialArt that my #Bio350 #Micronauts have created over the years. I have many examples. Look at this notebook page from a student years ago. The bacteriophage gives Peter Max psychedelic vibes. I have had a good career. What's next?

For years, I would have my #Bio350 #Micronauts go on #MarineMicrobiologicalSafaris. Seawater samples, dilution series. Luminous bacteria, sure. But also, agar degrading bacteria...that leave a pit as they "eat" the agar on the plates. Here is one from a local beach here in Christchurch NZ.

I cherish all of the microbiology+art pieces that my #Bio350 #Micronauts at the University of Puget Sound have made over the years. I have framed this wonderful illustration of one of my favorite quotes from the late great Lynn Margulis. It hangs on my lab wall, and I adore it. #GratefulProf

Here is a wonderful crocheted microbe by a #Bio350 #Micronaut a few years ago. It is starting to fall apart. So I hope to find someone I can pay to make me another "Bdellovibrio attacking E. coli" crocheted masterpiece! Fingers crossed.

I have always been a big believer in science + art + creativity. I didn’t invent the idea, nor have I published articles on it. But the creativity of my microbiology students across decades made me so happy. Like these #Bio350 #MicrobialHaiku samples. #MicronautsWeSoar
