Trends provide the big picture Tracking indicators over decades reveals the long-term direction and speed of changing ocean chemistry. Trends move us from a snapshot of OA to a historical record. Snapshot showing trend for Surface pH is a common way to quantify ocean acidification. Here, we see the past five years shows a significant decreasing trend in pH, which indicates that OA is increasing in the Eastern Bering Sea.
