Oh the expressions on these two! This is a very new baby pony who did about 9000 cute things while I watched. Mom’s mare glare isn’t about humans. It had to do with other ponies invading their personal space.

This little lion pony in a maze of gorse is what you get to look at today. How can you not love a Dartmoor Hill Pony?

When a Dartmoor hill pony is transformed into a lion by a gust of wind.

Taken in 2018, Dartmoor National Park, Devon, England.

This pony reminds me of a lion. A lion would be much bigger. 😂 This pony was hanging out with the pony that was eating the gorse. I love that you can see the hills of Dartmoor in the background.

Yummy Gorse! A Dartmoor pony’s favorite snack.

Yummy Gorse! A Dartmoor pony’s favorite snack. If you’ve been around wild equines, or, in this case, live most of the year as wild, you may have noticed they like thorny food. I guess it’s their version of hot pepper sauce. 🤷‍♀️😂 You can watch the ponies here in Dartmoor stomping on the horse to tenderize it before chewing on it…very, very carefully.

This Dartmoor pony wants to peer into your soul.

A Dartmoor pony stares right into the camera. Dartmoor ponies are bay in coloration.

Getting to this Dartmoor pony took a little bit of balance and endurance. It’s wet. It’s England. Go figure. We were hopping from one tussock to another down the trail for a bit. But to look directly into this pony’s eyes made it all worth it. They can see into your soul, I swear.

There are different designations of Dartmoor ponies. Like Heritage Dartmoor ponies or Pedigree Dartmoor ponies. This pony was some sort of designated Dartmoor pony but I can’t remember. It was eight years ago and I was too busy trying not to fall off a tussock to remember.

A close up look at a Dartmoor Hill Pony. She is small, sturdy, and unbelievably fluffy. Another grazes in the distance.

Have you ever seen a pony foal with a beard? Well, now you have. We are still time traveling back to the spring of 2018 visiting the hill ponies of Dartmoor National Park.

Three hill ponies stand in the foreground of this photo taken in the UK’s Dartmoor National Park. They look like Shetland ponies crosses. One is black and white pinto and the other two are gray. Their manes and tales are wild and the ponies are a little muddy.
