Pick: 'The Awakening' is on #BBCTwo at 2335.
An enjoyable retro throwback paranormal investigation type film. It's a nice watch and very well done, though, unlike the best chillers, it likely isn't the sort of film that'll linger in the recesses of your mind for years to come.

Receiving its terrestrial premier on #BBCTwo on Friday is #Longlegs, a memorably inventive horror film from writer/director #OsgoodPerkins. This is a film that I admired but did not love, although it does generate a very unsettling atmosphere. Link in bio for full (non-spoiler) review.

Pick: 'Medusa Deluxe' is on #BBCTwo at 0005.
At last, a film that truly confronts the merciless world of hairdressing. An odd beast that doesn't entirely work, but the parts when it all comes together are quite marvellous.

Pick: 'The Substance' is on #BBCTwo at 2200.
Not the first lady body horror, but seemingly the first to receive especial notice. A satirical venture into skin crawling dread and graphic gore… and also camp absurdity.

Pick: 'Florence Foster Jenkins' is on #BBCTwo at 2305.
Somehow there were two films based on Florence Foster Jenkins in quick succession, because, I don't know, she just suddenly struck a cord with film makers in the 2010s or something. Anyway, this is the one you've heard of.

Tomorrow's pick: 'The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp' is on #BBCTwo at 1035.
Oh, my! It's the propaganda film that Churchill tried to ban! Ironically, the film's approach to the subject matter means it holds up better than the more overtly rah-rah variety, to the point where it still has relevancy.

Pick: 'His House' is on #BBCTwo at 2320.
It's nearly spooky season, and you know what that means? Spooky house time! To that end, at last here's a film that has a reason for why they don't just leave the bloody (spooky) house! It's pretty effective.

Pick: 'West Side Story' is on #BBCTwo at 1450.
The central thesis of this re-release trailer seems flawed.

Back to Reality is one of my favourite episodes, if not my favourite. Very funny and a really good plot. An all time classic from the Smeggers. #RedDwarf #BBCTwo

Whenever I see the car chase scene it always reminds me of the Smeg Up where Chris Barrie falls of the box. “Noel Edmonds.” #RedDwarf #BBCTwo

The late Lenny Von Dohlen is great in this. #RedDwarf #BBCTwo

When I first saw Emohawk Polymorth 2, I couldn’t believe Cat and Dwayne Dibbley were played by the same guy. Dwayne just looks nothing like Danny John-Jules. #RedDwarf #BBCTwo

It’s Timothy Spall, the fake brummie git! What a twonk! #RedDwarf #BBCTwo
