A vertical horror scene looks down a narrow stairwell into a flooded, decaying basement. At the far end, a pale woman stands waist-deep in black water, facing the viewer with a tense, unsmiling expression. Her long dark hair hangs wet around her face, and she wears a soaked black coat over dark clothing. In one hand she holds a small flashlight pointed downward. Old brick walls surround her, their cracked white paint peeling away in large patches to expose red brick and dark water stains. Thick rusted pipes run along the upper left wall. A crude platform or collapsed wooden structure floats partly submerged in front of the woman. The foreground is dominated by glossy black floodwater covering the basement floor. Near the foot of the stairs, a large circular disturbance spreads outward in bright, concentric ripples, as though something beneath the surface has just struck or pushed against the floor. Reflections from the pale walls shimmer across the ripples while the surrounding water disappears into near-black shadow. Wet steps descend from the viewer directly toward the unexplained disturbance.
