atsulucy + “will you ever forgive me?”
#bsd #atsulucy

“Montgomery-cha--” Atsushi cleared his throat, then proceeded to try again for good measure. “Montgomery-san.” That was better, now he just had to not lose momentum and falter. “Will you ever forgive me?”
Neither of them spoke right after that, which was to be expected.
Lucy, Atsushi was more than well aware, was very justified in being mad at him; he had made a promise, then not followed up on it, after all. And not just a small kind of promise, also. So, yes, not only was she very justified in being mad at him, but she would also have all the right in the world to hold resentment for as long as the girl deemed it fair.
His plan, then, had merely been saying what he had to say and accept whatever mercy or lack thereof she chose to offer him.
Plus, the best thing he could do to start making amends (or try to) was probably getting away from her space, especially when the closing hour at the cafe was drawing near and Lucy would be busy. And therefore, that was what he then proceeded to do… until her voice made him stop in his tracks, unable to turn around for a while anyway. Or keep going.
“You’re a really dumb kitty, y’know that?” Atsushi didn’t reply yet, because it didn’t take a genius to know how she wasn’t done talking. He did look over his shoulder to steal a glance at her “I’ve already forgiven you.”
“... Oh.”
That prompted him to fully turn around, finally, closing the small distance between him and the counter to offer him the biggest smile he was capable of drawing in his face. In fact, Atsushi was downright beaming.
“Thanks, Montgomery-chan.” He said, earning himself a scoff that didn’t sound exactly mad.
“Just call me by my first name, will you?” She said, her eyes now fixed on the rag she was drying up freshly washed glasses with. “I know how it’s like, here in Japan, but it still feels strange to me. Like, you’re not my teacher or boss or anything.” Well, he wasn’t expecting that. It was good, though; Atsushi simply was going to need some practice before getting used to it. But-- no better time than the present, right?
“Alright, M-- Lucy-chan.” Those words had barely finished exiting his mouth when Lucy let out a gasp and some water droplets, probably leftovers from after-washing rinsing, collided against his face.
