Most countries banned that horrible #Pesticide #Atrazine yet, among them my homeland Germany.
😱😱😱

Despite being banned in more than 60 countries around the world, we still use so much #atrazine in the U.S. that over a quarter of our rivers and streams are contaminated with a carcinogen.

We owe it to our kids and to ourselves to ban atrazine across the country once and for all.

A federal plan to clean up #atrazine would leave 99% of the nation’s most contaminated watersheds polluted with the pesticide at levels the Environmental Protection Agency itself considers unsafe.

Lakes, rivers and streams in these watersheds provide drinking water for millions 🔗➡️ bit.ly/4j9CLCT

#Atrazine is single-handedly making clean water unavailable and posing long-term dangers to people and wildlife in affected areas.

The #EPA, which is considering reapproving this #pesticide, should follow the lead of five dozen countries around the world and implement a permanent ban on atrazine.

Atrazine—a hormone-disrupting weedkiller banned in 60+ nations—is contaminating 25% of continental US rivers at unsafe levels, according to an investigation in The Guardian today, threatening drinking water aquifers.

"En raison de problèmes de santé bien documentés, l'#atrazine a été interdite dans plus de 60 pays.
Pourtant, l'EPA s'apprête à réautoriser l'utilisation de ce #pesticide dangereux aux États-Unis pour au moins 15 années supplémentaires"

Because of well-documented health concerns, #atrazine has been banned in more than 60 countries.

Yet the EPA is in the process of reapproving the use of this dangerous #pesticide in the US for at least another 15 years.

Image of a shallow, rocky river bed. Text centered over the image reads: "More than 70 million pounds of atrazine are sprayed on crops each year and it is the most widely detected pesticide contaminant in
U.S. rivers, streams and below-ground water supplies. It is a known hormone-disrupting pesticide linked to birth defects, multiple cancers, and fertility problems."

While research on #pollinator #decline has focused on #neonics, a first-of-its-kind study in Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology finds “structural damage to the midgut” of managed and wild #bees exposed to #atrazine at field-realistic concentrations. 🐝➡️ Daily News: https://ow.ly/hqkK50ZQZM7
