Nose Hill Park in Calgary - 3x the size of New York City’s Central Park - was officially established as a park in 1980 after strong public advocacy in the 1970s saved it from residential development. The park protects one of the most significant remaining tracts of rough fescue grassland in the Canadian prairies.
