I love symbolic portraiture because it feels like building a person from clues. A face, a pose, a crow, a pattern, a bit of gold. Small choices can quietly shape the whole feeling of a painting. #art #artsky #mercurialmuse #bskyart #arttips

Not sure how accurate this is, but it helps me, so it may help you.
The human back is kinda shaped like a shortsword.

When I plan a symbolic portrait, I do not start with what looks impressive. I start with what feels true. A gesture, an expression, an animal, or a touch of gold can completely change the story a painting tells. #art #artsky #mercurialmuse #bskyart #arttips

I finally figured out how to draw the eye guideline!
This line aligns with the line that wraps around the head sphere.

I love taking small subjects and treating them with real care. A bee, a bird, a tiny painted panel. Sometimes making something feel sacred is just a matter of slowing down and giving it attention. #art #artsky #mercurialmuse #bskyart #arttips

Art tip! use a clear plastic layer first to position things as a guide!

Do this before you paint directly on your canvas if you are worried about something not looking good! that way you can see it before!

I believe my drawing habits are wrong, so I’m always trying to break free from them.
Without digital tools that make it easy to correct things, I probably would have given up drawing altogether.
Apple Pencil is revolutionary.

A true bird’s-eye view means the hairline falls below the halfway point of the face.

I love the moment when an animal in a painting stops feeling literal and starts feeling personal. A crow or a frog can carry so much meaning once you start thinking beyond the surface. That is when the story opens up for me. #art #artsky #mercurialmuse #bskyart #arttips

I figured out what those gradients on metal really are. 🤔
They seem to be stylized reflections of the surroundings.
Understanding the basis of stylization lets you apply it in different ways.
You can adjust the detail depending on its size on screen.

Light scatters in different ways.
Rayleigh scattering strongly scatters blue light.
Mie scattering has little difference between colors, so it tends to appear achromatic.
Rayleigh scattering makes the sky look blue🟦, while Mie scattering makes clouds look white.☁️
