@madebybanana.bsky.social(From a few days ago) My plan to paint deli paper turned into “what if I fold it like an ink blot test?
Answer: I get some colorful but easy to rip papers

@madebybanana.bsky.socialGot real into cardboard texture plates tonight!
Gel prints on deli or copy paper. Last pictures have cardboard pieces. Started with design from Susan Clifton and went from there (link below)

Pleased with this one! I’ve been doing random experiments lately but felt happier going with collage here. Composition-wise there are things I could improve for next time.
@madebybanana.bsky.socialWhoops, forgot to rotate this one before posting!

@madebybanana.bsky.socialTwo recent #mixedmedia #sketchbook pages.
The first one got away from me so fast but I don’t hate it. Second one I left to dry and I’m not sure where to take it next.
@madebybanana.bsky.socialAbstract exercise starting with 4 papers taped together. I might add more to these later
Any favorites? I like elements of 1 & 2 best

@madebybanana.bsky.socialI thought I added some interesting marks to this paper but now that it’s dry, it looks dull as heck. More thinking needed

@madebybanana.bsky.socialI was going to add these grungy papers into my collage folder but glued them into my #sketchbook instead. Something for future me to play with

@madebybanana.bsky.socialWIP x2, zero plans for what I’m doing or where it’s heading!
I’m getting so much glare from the window and/or desk lights that it’s hard to see the colors. Maybe this is why some people work on an easel 😅
@madebybanana.bsky.socialWIP: I prepped this 2ft square board and taped papers to it almost 5 months ago. Picked it up today. I try to trust that after I start a million projects, I’ll eventually finish one

@madebybanana.bsky.socialMore ink resist #artplay
Wanted to keep it simple and use the first two stencils I touched. Which means this is a busy mess but I still learned from it
Progress pics below
@madebybanana.bsky.socialImpulsive art play. I gave gouache and ink resist another go (tried before, didn’t like it) This time also testing ink resist over acrylic. See alt text for details
I should have expected the acrylic to stay vibrant but I was pleasantly surprised!
@madebybanana.bsky.socialMore messing with masks
Need to work on color combos and keeping certain colors from beading up so much
