@nilssandrisser.bsky.socialIn German "sich den Wind um die Nase wehen lassen" ("to let the wind blow around one's nose") means enjoying fresh weather.
This panda garra (garra flavatra) seems to enjoy letting the current blow around his nose. In Myanmar they live in fast-running streams.
@nilssandrisser.bsky.socialTwo of them recently started a brood, and the others also act as a pair.
Any cichlid experts around here who could give a possible explanation for that? Thanks a lot in advance!
@nilssandrisser.bsky.socialThis ist my group of 4 firemouth cichlids (Thorichthys meeki), busy with their ritualised negotiations of rank orders. In their phaenotype, they''re all male (pointed dorsal fin, genital papillae). But there's something weird about them.
@nilssandrisser.bsky.socialSo, when you buy neon tetras catched from the wild for your aquariums, you can do that (mostly) without remorse. But that can be different with other fish species.
@nilssandrisser.bsky.socialMy 3 green neon tettas are remnants from a larger swarm. By now, they are 8 years old, but still vital. Sometimes they look like blue sparks that flare up in front of a dark background.
@nilssandrisser.bsky.socialTwo weeks after I reshaped the left side of my 160 ltr. tank with a piece of cherrywood. I like the result.
