Always Get In a Spaceship With a Scoundrel, a sci-fi romance by Ellie Rhymer As the table once again devolved into accusations and cross-talk, Anora’s head was swimming, disoriented by the overlapping conversation, even as she had the sense that these were well-trod arguments and ancient histories. Words that cut, but not at vital organs. Anora reached out and removed the data drive Joe had given her in his dying moments from the holodata and stood, her mag chair scraping along the floor. The action was more of a gesture than anything, as she did realize she had nowhere to go on an unfamiliar ship traveling through deep hyperspace, but her movement had the desired effect as the chatter abruptly ceased and the bickering spacers looked at her in the galley dimness as the holodisplay blinked out.
