Here is another swinging pendulum example with two more in-betweens to further cushion the action.

On a side note, each pendulum is coloured in reference to a certain post-2010 CN series. Try to guess what it is!

This correctly animated swinging pendulum example has a couple more in-betweens to help it ease in and ease out more fluidly.

Time to talk more about this animation principle in greater detail!

Here is how not to animate the pendulum, as evidenced by the passing breakdown position being too small.

The Swinging Pendulum example is rather helpful in explaining the difference between extremes and breakdowns. The latter were often underlined for importance and also known as ‘passing positions’ during the 1930s’.

I personally consider my fourth bouncing ball example to be the very best of them all so far, mostly due to the grey rubber ball.

Speaking of rubber, now seems to be perfect opportunity for me to talk about squash and stretch.

Another way to try out the sliding circle example is to keep the same timing as before while changing the spacing to ease out of both the starting and ending positions, as shown through this gold circle.

The Sliding Circle example is a method that can easily help in telling the difference between timing and spacing. All you need is a simple coin and video camera - the latter of which I do not have.

This third bouncing ball example features that which resembles an orange ping-pong ball.

If you want to plot this one out for yourself, all you need is a simple coin and a video camera with which to take pictures of every frame.

Next up is another bouncing ball example, this time with a chartreuse softball.

However, I also think now is probably the best time to talk more about the principle of timing - albeit in a thread that branches off of this one.

Alright everybody!

Let’s get things rolling with one of the most common animation examples known to man - the Bouncing Ball!

This is specifically a yellow lightweight ball, but it can be interpreted as a tennis ball if you want.
