The elegant and beautiful White Horse of Uffington, an ancient figure carved into the chalk and looked after for millennia is on The Ridgeway. Can’t be seen clearly from the ground so a drone pic as well! Created by aliens? @gardeninNorway @thorneh #ancientbritain

This is enigmatic Dragon Hill near The Ridgeway where St George killed the dragon (he was Turkish and dragons aren’t real). In reality the ancient people took the trouble to level the top of the hill for reasons we can only guess at. @gardeninNorway @thorneh #ancientbritain

Uffington Hill Fort on The Ridgeway, a mere 3,000 years old. Hard to see it from the ground so I’ve pinched a drone picture (complete with the sheep) so people can see the scale of it and an idea of what it might have looked like in the Iron Age @gardeninNorway @thorneh #ancientbritain

Been away for the weekend in Wiltshire, though this is in Oxfordshire…it looks like an English country lane or a rough track but is actually The Ridgeway, the oldest road in the U.K. having been used for 6,000 years since people arrived here after the Ice Age…@gardeninnorway #ancientbritain
