I feel like amateurs can sometimes notice things experts miss because they arent already used to one “right” way of thinking. They might be wrong more often, but that also gives them more room to try something weird or different that an expert may not even consider. #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

According to McLuhan, amateurs offer a sideways view to the world that experts don't-- experts view w/ a critical eye and amateurs don't know that side yet, hence they're so curious and question everything. I'd rather be an amateur because I like to stay curious and open #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

5. Amateurs bring the anti-environmental, and awareness focused perspective that professionals lack due to strict acceptance of groundrules of the environment. I'd rather be an amateur at something in order to learn eventually or find something new about how to do something. #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

Amateurs can offer the willingness to fail and be wrong. The ability to see patterns that the expert can no longer see. The Oppenheimer quote is great at showing this in effect. I would still rather be the expert as amateurs who make a difference are rare. #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

being an amateur is freeing and pure #amateurvsexpert #hwa2

@shurelysha1lly.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 2:00 AM

amateurs are able to see things with a complete fresh and unpainted perspective which is impossible for experts + they have nothing to lose so anything they say or question is out of pure an genuine intention while experts have some reoccurring biases despite what they claim #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

Amateurs would notice things that experts have grown to ignore. Amateurs can question rules and recognize the weirdness of whatever they come across. This feels like the distinction between blissful ignorance and painful awareness. I'd rather be the amateur who can see clearly #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

Q5: Since it is their first time encountering the environment, they are able to see things that experts cant. They can keep questioning and pushing as they can afford to lose. I would rather be an amateur because I like the idea of knowing things that the experts do not #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

@yush025.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 12:35 AM

I would rather be an amateur than an expert who is ignorant of all the daily hidden influences around them. #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

@yush025.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 12:34 AM

Amateurs are new to the environment, so they aren't accustomed to what has become normal. They can question everything because they have nothing to lose. They can also notice details that have become invisible since it is their first time being exposed. #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

Amateurs offer the world a new perspective and awareness while experts do not because it is already expected from them, I would rather be an amateur in some cases but an expert in most because comfort matters but I enjoy challenging norms at times as well #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

@moremoer.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 11:10 PM

I would be an amateur expert, because I want to be knowledgable on a subject but still be openminded and a creative thinker. #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

@kaylak4t.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 10:36 PM

Amateurs pick things apart where professionals have learned to ignore. For example, amateurs break things and mishear things. I would rather be an amateur, so I have room to question what I am learning. #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

@amanraj07.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 10:18 PM

I feel like i am an amateur, amateurs can afford to lose an argument and they question things that experts have learned to ignore, I want freedom to explore and not have the pressure to have the answer always right

2/2 their perspective forces the individual to think critically of the things they consume and are constantly in state of seeking to understand what it is they are studying. #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

@chillmountaineer.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 8:48 PM

The amateur "...seeks the development of the total awareness of the individual..." and "...the critical awareness of the groundrules of society" according to McLuhan and mentioned in pt2. In other words, offers a critical perspective. In 209, I would rather be an amateur as #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

@silvanatalia444.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 7:27 PM

the expert reinforces the environment while the amateur notices when the environment is strange and questions it. amateurs are aware they are being massaged and have nothing to lose by going against it, creating the anti-environment #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert

@arain24.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 7:27 PM

#hwa2 #amateurvsexpert cont'd, because I like to be open minded, perceptive, and constantly experience new things. living in comfort can get dull, making you not notice things you once did

@arain24.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 7:25 PM

#hwa2 #amateurvsexpert amateurs have their novelty, their unsureness, their questioning ability to bring to the world that experts are already sure of. They can afford to lose the argument, so they keep experimenting. They know the medium is massaging them and massage back. I'd rather be an amateur

@butterflies49.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 6:34 PM

Amateurs offer critical awareness and can afford to lose and the expert accepts the environment they are in and stays put. I would rather be an amateur because they have a mind of their own and can think more freely. #hwa2 #amateurvsexpert
