Watched 2017's #ThePost about the #WashingtonPost & the #PentagonPapers. Fantastic movie, acting, you name it. Also, the 2017 film manages to set up (perfectly) for 1976's #AllthePresidentsMen. I watch these movies & then think about how gutless & incompetent our media has become.

#AllthePresidentsMen

Second classic journalism movie two days in a row at the 8 pm Eastern time slot on TCM. Needless to say this one is more lighthearted. #LibeledLady #AllthePresidentsMen #TCMParty

It took a lot to bring down Nixon. He was overwhelmingly reelected. It seemed easy condensed into a2 hr movie but took 2 yrs, committee hearings, reporting, protests. And it was only b/c they had Nixon on tape. GOP senators had no choice #TCMParty #AllThePresidentsMen

Yes. There was a Q&A after. #TCMFF #AllThePresidentsMen #TCMParty Thats where he said it.

I just checked that #AllThePresidentsMen won the Oscar for Best Sound because this relies on very clear and convincing sound effects to convey a LOT. Setting is typewriters clacking, echoes in a garage. Voices have to have depth and texture. Footsteps are terrifying. Score is used lightly. #TCMParty

Perfect ending. The intrepid reporters are focused on their work while the pomp and circumstance of an inauguration are ignored. Crimes faced accountability. Nixon would fall the following year. This was journalism at its peak. What’s become of us? #AllThePresidentsMen #TCMParty

*Sigh* If only it were still that easy... #tcmparty #AllThePresidentsMen

Days before Nixon resigned. I was one of the kids on those bleachers. #TCMParty #AllThePresidentsMen

Was that the last #TCMFF where John Dean was interviewed? I think it was by Ben for this movie? He said that they are keeping the names & tracking all the corruption going on. Did I dream that? #TCMParty #AllThePresidentsMen

I remember watching the hearing live when John Dean told the committee there were tapes. #TCMParty #AllThePresidentsMen

You know you and your brother are in trouble when dad angrily calls out “Woodstein!”

But seriously, what a dispiriting mistake. Thank God the investigative reporting survived this. #AllThePresidentsMen #TCMParty
