In #mathstoday, year 12 were learning through play with reciprocal trig functions (and a few extras!) #alevelmaths #memorygame
What resources are put there for Pearson Statistics A-Level?
Is there a decent textbook?
Has anyone implemented it at their school, if so how is it goingl?
One of my goals this school year is writing practice tests for Edexcel L2 Extended Maths Certificate.
Frankly, one of the best syllabi I've ever read - and great assessments.
Ofc teachers delivering AQA L2 FMC can pick and choose questions from these resources.
In #mathstoday yr 1 #alevelmaths investigated transformations of functions using desmos, yr 2 did geometric sequences and series with some more MWB work continuing with example sheets from mr-mathematics.
Just wondering whether OpenAI's actions (and their implications) have made it across to the mathematical education sphere. I'm reading a lot of reaction from higher education, not from secondary (or primary) and so am curious as to whether folks know
Looking forward to hosting #ALevelMaths Teacher Network tomorrow.

Join me for a discussion about some interesting questions from this summer's exams and general update for Maths A H240 and Maths B (MEI) H640.

Getting prepped on the way to for the annual meet up of the Developing A Level Pedagogy Workgroup Leads! #mathstoday #alevelmaths
#MathsToday #ALevelMaths is there anything wrong with what this student has written on my board. My brain starts to turn to mush when I read it!!
In #MathsToday my busiest teaching day of the week.
Y2 #ALevelMaths - Trigonometric Modelling using the Harmonic Form
GCSE Resit - Exam Paper Practice
Y2 #ALevelMaths - Trigonometric Modelling using the Harmonic Form
GCSE Resit - Sequences
In #mathstoday yr 1 #alevelmaths did intersections of lines and curves and I had a learning walk. Yr 2 did arithmetic sequences using mr-mathematics slides / example sheets and some MWB problem solving. Grateful to find a ready to go resource when workload got a bit too much this week.
Looking forward to the last three questions which will have a three digit answer instead of being multiple-choice (000-999 is essentially not multiple choice 😂)

In #mathstoday yr 1 #Alevelmaths sketched lots of polynomials on MWBs which set them up well for practice with Dr Austin worksheets. Yr 2 began sequences and series, introducing lots of terms and notation making use of the MEI thinking about sequences activity. Links below.
Find the exact value of the green area.
Looking at iterative solutions to equations today, so I wrote this root finder in @desmos.com, utilising the Newton-Raphson method. r(a, n) uses n iterations starting at x=a to identify a root.
Part 12, equations of circles.
This part is much meatier than Part 11, and this is shown on TMUA papers. Students are GUARANTEED 1-2 questions on equations of circles, and these questions often make use of basic coord geo techniques in Part 11 as well.
Part 11, coordinate geometry.
Coordinate geometry is usually interweaved in calculus and functions questions. Students have to be able to work on these problems quickly and accurately.
What's the integral of ln x? Most A-Level Maths students blank on this one How many can you get? Full explanations: https://www.tutorup.co.uk/articles/integration-techniques-a-level-maths #homeschool #ALevel #Maths #ALevelMaths #revision #TutorUp
There's still time to sign-up for our Maths of Data Science and AI course for #ALevelMaths teachers that starts on 14 October - 4 online sessions and a study day (with a £350 subsidy to attend!)
We've also got a one-off 90-minute webinar on 3 December too
