“In policy-based lending, the AIIB should publish all loan agreements and establish transparent mechanisms to track how disbursed funds are used. It should ensure the reforms it supports genuinely advance climate and social priorities, preserve countries' fiscal space, and do not exacerbate debt vulnerabilities.”

There are serious gaps on gender, rights and accountability too.

Gendered risks are largely overlooked, while communities affected by #AIIB financing face major hurdles in accessing remedy.

The bank’s full environmental and social standards must apply to CPBF.

Text reads: "AIIB claims gender is ‘mainstreamed’ in CPBF, but it fails to account for gendered risks or do much more than count female beneficiaries. The bank must involve civil society in its Gender Action Plan review next year, and make gender standards mandatory."Teal and white card with text and Recourse logo in the corner. Review the accountability mechanism and apply the AIIB’s full Environmental & Social Framework to all financing tools, including CPBF."

The #AIIB says its Climate-Focused Policy-Based Financing (CPBF) will help countries meet their climate goals.

With $6.4bn already lent and up to another $9.6 in the pipeline, is it delivering meaningful #ClimateFinance?
