Back on the biosec beat with what could be a good news story, if there's someone willing to sign on the dotted line.

Wasps are in the garden so nows the time to watch out for any #Yellow-leggedHornets that may have survived MPI's eradication programme, and winter. Not just Auckland, any survivors may have hitched a ride out of town.

Shade from panels benefits crops & soil as the climate warms. There is also potential to use the power to desalinate brackish water, producing more water for more crops.

Opinion: Old regulations/legislation is holding Australian farming back as the move to renewables and electrics continues.

I've come across that inability to move renewably generated power across land title boundaries before - crazy stuff.

Seems to be reluctance to tinker given how important honey bees are to global horticulture. If it goes awry there could be serious consequences.
One option could be to introduce AC bees into honeybee hives it seems👇

...the hive seems to very much help. Removal of the mites also sees more infertile mites left behind.
I can see why there is some hesitancy to cross breed - unforeseen consequences.

Interesting. Not beneficial, rather grooming behaviour sees AC bees able to suppress the mites better.
Just read up a couple of articles/papers on this - fascinating but frustrating as studies are inconclusive.

An important one left off from here - The Big Tractor at Carnamah WA
It's modelled off an historic piece of Australian agricultural kit - the Perth made Chamberlain tractor.
