This Challenge Poverty Week, we've been talking about how advice fights poverty.

We'd love for you to join us ๐Ÿ‘‡

For Day 4 of #ChallengePovertyWeek, we're highlighting how advice tackles financial pressures on families.

We can't solve all of the causes of child poverty through advice. But we can continue working to ensure that families can maximise their income & protect their homes.

#AdviceOpensDoors

Hamilton Citizens Advice Bureau graphic reading โ€œAdvice Fights Child Poverty.โ€ Four illustrated messages show how advice can support families: income maximised, debt tackled, homes protected and rights secured. A pink banner at the bottom reads: โ€œWhen we help a parent, the impact reaches their children too.โ€

Fair work should pay the bills. But getting into work costs money too.

Advice can help with these barriers & our role in employability goes even further.

Our volunteering programme builds confidence, skills & can lead to an SCQF Level 6 qualification ๐Ÿ’ช

โšก Energy costs are a poverty issue.

For Day 2 of #ChallengePovertyWeek, our energy adviser Scott highlights the pressure energy costs continue to place on already stretched household budgets.

Advice can help people maximise income and tackle energy debt before it reaches crisis.
#AdviceOpensDoors

Graphic from Hamilton Citizens Advice Bureau about rising energy costs. Scott, Safe and Warm Energy Adviser, warns that the recent energy price cap increase and another likely rise in January will put further pressure on people already struggling, particularly during the colder months when energy use is highest. He highlights support including grants, income maximisation, repayment plans and the Warm Home Discount, while noting that rising prices and standing charges continue to place a significant burden on households.Continuation of Hamilton CABโ€™s energy advice graphic. Scott explains that while advice can help mitigate some effects of fuel poverty, rising energy prices are taking up an increasing share of already stretched household budgets. He encourages people to check available tariffs or contact Hamilton CAB to explore their options. Contact: advice@hamiltoncab.casonline.org.uk or 01698 283477.

๐Ÿ’š Weโ€™re starting #ChallengePovertyWeek out in our community.

Linda and Scott were at Hillhouse today, helping make advice easier to access.

Tackling poverty takes all of us. By working together locally, we can help people access their rights & get support earlier.

Our school outreach is growing.

We now host advice sessions in two schools.

Two schools. One aim: making advice easier for families to access, before a problem has the chance to become a crisis.
