It was pretty neat though that a real polar vortex system froze over my entire campus (in the Driftless Region of western Wisconsin) at the very moment I needed to do some, shall we say, nefarious plotting. [insert maniacal laughter from author here]

In writing RESOLUTE DEATH, Bk 1 in my Osley College Mysteries, I was meticulous about IRL weather conditions & matching events to them. It was exhausting (even tho info searching is my key professional skill). Sayers & P.D.James didn't do that! So I’m off that hook for the rest. 😄
