Three #AcademicMysteries I read recently all happen to be set in English Departments. Huh. It would appear there something about literature (or its proximity) that drives people to murder! πŸ§‘πŸΌβ€πŸŽ“πŸ’€

(Read that last sentence in your best Diana Rigg PBS Mystery emcee voice.)

A college having a nearby lake or riverfront is classic in #AcademicMysteries. Accuracy is all, though. US News describes my undergrad uni, Marquette University, as being "just a short walk from the beach." MapQuest notes that it's 3 miles, a mere 1.5 hour stroll. πŸ˜‚

Text from US News item on MU's proximity to Lake Michigan reads "Another school near the shores of Lake Michigan is Marquette University in Wisconsin, just a short walk from the beach. The largest and most popular beach in Milwaukee is Bradford Beach, roughly a 15-minute drive from campus. It has been recognized for its cleanliness and for accessibility, thanks to its beach wheelchairs and concrete ramp access to reach the water. The Lakefront Festival of Art takes place in June at the Milwaukee Art Museum, and hundreds of thousands of people gather across three weekends in June and July for Summerfest, the annual music festival that takes over Henry Maier Festival Park, which spans 75 acres along the shoreline. "

Note: The photo in the note is not of MU, but shows a group of rowers (possibly collegiate) on the Milwaukee River, immediately downtown (and no where near Bradford Beach).A MapQuest Query regarding walking distance from the far west edge of Marquette University's campus to Lake Michigan's Bradford Beach indicates it is a 3 mile trek, taking approximately 1.5 hours to walk.

Hey #AcademicSky and #PhDSky. When you're not researching, perhaps you're writing or reading #AcademicMysteries. If so, please consider joining our starter pack (if only to tell us where you hid or found the bodies!). πŸ§‘πŸΌβ€πŸŽ“πŸ’€
