For #RandomActsOfPoetryDay, we honor Kimi Gengo Tagawa (1903–1987), an early Nisei poet & NYC social investigator. Living in Greenwich Village, she published verse & translations bridging Japanese & American literary worlds, giving voice to her community.

A different back-to-school story: following the 1942 removal of Japanese Americans from the West Coast, the National Japanese American Student Relocation Council helped incarcerated students transfer to colleges outside the military zone.
