Built in 1981 as the House-Monument of the Bulgarian Communist Party, Buzludzha was abandoned after 1989. Looting, vandalism and harsh weather have put its nearly 1,000 m² of mosaics at risk.

In 2018, the monument was included on Europe's #7MostEndangered list.

In 2012, an earthquake severely damaged the Monastery of San Benedetto Po, an important religious & cultural heritage site in Italy. The damage disrupted access to the church, museum & other cultural spaces.

A year later, the site was included on Europe's #7MostEndangered list.
