#31nightsofhorror night 9: “V/H/S mixtape” all right, segment by segment! wraparound: GWAR just having fun hosting the movie like public domain horror hosts is a fun idea. I really like it
Night 9 of #31nightsofhorror: Ringu (1998), one of the best horror films in the last thirty years.
The Arrow Video 4k release was restored from the original negative and looks crisp and clean... when Sadako's video isn't being played, at least.

#31NightsOfHorror night number 9 is one of my favorite yearly releases, V/H/S Mixtape. Now with more Gwar!
The only great V/H/S was 2, but every year there's a great segment, and a few decent ones.
I'm not sure how next year will work out with it being SCP through A24.
2026 #31NightsofHorror Day 9 - Dr. Terror’s House of Horrors (1965). Never has a title and cast promised so much, delivered so little: an unseen werewolf, a killer weed, a voodoo beat, a possessed hand - promising - and a vampire. A poor man’s Tales of the Unexpected, it’s not even camp! #filmsky
18. Freddy Vs Jason. There are so many reasons to dislike this, but I surprisingly did not. But: It’s hard to think of another movie where the aesthetics feel so much of its time, in a bad way. #31nightsofhorror
Tonight! Finishing off The Omen Trilogy (let's face it, the 4th movie doesn't count) on Sequel-A-Thon II!
OMEN III: THE FINAL CONFLICT (1981)
Starring the late great Sam Neill.

Sorority House Massacre (1986)
"They've pledged to be sisters... to the end."
Director: Carol Frank
Writer: Carol Frank
Cinematography: Marc Reshovsky
17. Eaten Alive. Tobe Hooper’s followup to Texas Chainsaw. This is _not at all_ as good, but it has a certain charm. The sound design is great! It basically sounds like someone repeatedly fell on a keyboard, while someone else strummed out of tune piano wires. #31nightsofhorror
#31nightsofhorror “The Crazies” (2010) …this is case of a remake being better than the original. While the original was unique with its multiple POVs the characters were very flat and unengaging, while 2010 has a more generic structure but has much more engaging characters
Now Screaming: Rope
My favorite Hitchcock movie. His equal unease & fascination with gay characters is on full sadomasochistic display. A power top and a skittish bottom go full Nietzsche & murder their 3way guest star.

Night 8 of #31nightsofhorror: You Won't Be Alone, a modern folk horror gem that I enjoyed as much as The Witch.
#31NightsofHorror night number 8 is Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies.
The Djinn are beings older than humanity, with enormous magical power. I don't think death is on the table for them.
I wonder if the cameo parade from 1 will continue?
Tonight's sequel is about my bro, Damien Thorn!
DAMIEN: OMEN II (1978)
It's on Disney+ in the UK. I didn't think I'd be watching movies about the spawn of Satan on Disney but here we are.

Slaughter High (1986)
"Where the student body is going to pieces."

16. Happy Birthday To Me. The one with the shish kebab. Just all out entertaining. Giallo-ish, but honestly, some twists in this one would make Martino, Argento, and Lenzi roll their eyes. #31nightsofhorror
#31nightsofhorror night 8 “The Crazies” (1973) …I’d say on the scales of good to bad with “okay” in the middle, it’s good but just a bit more than okay. Has a great opening and the themes of incompetence and poor communication killing far more than the virus are evergreen.
…but
Night 7 of #31nightsofhorror: Mario Bava's Black Sunday (aka The Mask of Satan) with Barbara Steele.
